Letters to Snorkel Bob
>> 1 2 3

Wow..Im 46 and snorkeled since I was I guess 10. California beach kid. Just came back from Hawaii on a work related trip.. Rented your gear for a week.. got the book and the camera.. Love the book. Thought the camera was not going to work out but It was great. Your workers (gal-Wikiki) was great at her job. I of course was a difficult listener, (with my PADI card in my pocket). The fins are adequate for most.. Hmmmm. Hit Hunami.. or whatever. One of my buddies lost a $2,000 ring. (insured ,, not to worry). Had a wonderful time. Of course. My wife always called me a fish. I've snorkeled the Agean at Athens for 4 years. .. Its nothing. don't go for diving. Sure there are the old amphora and stuff on the bottom. and lots more octapus, big red urchins to eat, but no fish. No color. Cold in the winter too.. I would have enjoyed snorkeling the mid Atlantic. for a minute or two.. I spent a night alone in Navaho country once, no sign of humanity all night, stars can get bright. Blah, blah.. blah..

Anyway.. my small group of guys invaded a little beach just south of Wikiki and walking by a gang of boys, our arrival was announced with:

"LOOK OUT ITS A SNORKEL BOB ATTACK"

God I wish I were you...

I have done most of my snorkeling at Maui but this year I plan to visit the Big Island for the first time. I have heard that snorkeling there is difficult because of the lack of sandy beaches and the best way is to take a snorkel boat trip somewhere. Please give me some advice on this.

By the way, on my trips to Hawaii, I have always rented my gear from Snorkel Bob's. I have a hard time getting a proper fit on my mask (probably due to my Roman nose, ie, BIG) and the personnel at Snorkel Bob's are always helpful in making sure I get a proper fit. Also, the gear seems to always be the highest quality.

Greetings from frigid Minnesota! My wife and I will be spending a week on Maui at the end of Feb. and wondered if you rent your snorkle stuff. Could you please write me back with info including prices if you do rent? By the Bye, I really liked the web site. Its the most "home grown with a touch" that I have visited for a while. It almost reads like Jimmy Buffet wrote it. Thanks.

I just found your home page while surfing the net! It is a blast, just like your Reality and Get Down Guide. I picked up a copy of that at Powells bookstore in Portland OR several years ago. Most of my friends run at the sight of it because they know I will be trying to force them to listen to amusing paraghaphs again. It would be nice if things is just the way they was but it just doesn't happen. When I am over next time (whenever) I will be nice to the fishies when they come and look me in the eye. Thanks for all the belly laughs.

You, Snorkel Bob, are my hero. Your wisdom has been my guide on many voyages (in and out of body, sub- and supramarine). Thanks for only spouting bullshit we can use everyday.

Respectfully,
Steve C.

HI BOB,
MY HUSBAND AND I ARE COMING TO MAUI FOR THE WEEK. WE HAVE NEVER BEEN TO MAUI OR SNORKELED. WE LEAVE LOS ANGELES SUNDAY AND WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INFORMATION THAT YOU COULD PROVIDE US WITH PRIOR TO OUR ARRIVAL. WE FOUND YOU IN OUR AUTO CLUB MANUAL AND LOOKED YOU UP ON THE INTERNET. GREAT SITE AND VERY HELPFUL. WE LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING YOU SOON.

Dear Snorkel Bob,
Recently I had the pleasure of "renting" some equipment from your store in Honolulu. I found your store through your website, and it was so entertaining I simply had to check out the shop.

Although there was a challenge with my wife receiving a mask that was too big for her face, thereby leaking and becoming essentially useless, we were treated very cordially and fairly upon our return to the shop. Your employee there was understanding and did not hesitate to offer us a refund on the gear rental for my wife, since we were not in a position to use it further, (otherwise we would have settled for an exchange). I am sorry I did not get the name of the young lady that served us, obviously has been with you for some time.

I was so pleased with this, I have told several people about my experience, your website, and your service. I am writing to let you know that as a business person myself, I really appreciate the lengths you go to keep your customers happy. This kind of service will not only re-earn my business my next visit to Hawaii, but through recommendation will earn you new and hopefully repeat business from my friends and aquaintances.

Kudos to you, and your fine staff, Snorkel Bob!

Sincerely, Randy v.
P.S. I really loved your web page. It is straight forward in providing information, yet humourous as well!

Yo Bob,
Just back from Africa.  My Son wore your T-shirt (man in shark) at Samburu, Kenya.  He was offered 2 wooden animals, a panga, and a ceremonial robe in trade for that well worn shirt.  Needless to say he refused.  Don't think the boy would have made the trade if he was offered 2 wives.  Maybe though.......

Sam
